UNION, NJ – A Union woman was awarded the Ms. Wheelchair NJ Ambassador title at last weekend’s Ms. Wheelchair NJ 2020 competition in Monroe.

Caitlin Goerlich, 26, also came in second in the People’s Choice Award at the annual event.  “I enjoyed every second of the competition and loved competing alongside the other ladies,” said Goerlich.

Goerlich said during the two questioning rounds at the competition, contestants had to answer five questions per round.  Contestants then had to give a two-minute speech.

“I would like to say thanks to everyone who supported me throughout the preparation of the competition and during the competition,” said Goerlich, “as well as those who donated to my fundraiser on Facebook.”

Goerlich said she hopes to raise to a campaign she started called #InclusiveBitmojis, a campaign to get Bitmoji to add disability options to their app so that people with disabilities are better represented in their Bitmojis.

“Even though I do have a disability and have used a wheelchair since I was about four-years old, I have never let it get in the way of the way I have lived my life.”
