UNION, NJ – The Union Chamber of Commerce has two new team members, who will be interning there as part of Union High School’s Cooperative Education program.
High school seniors Mekhi Rivers, 18, and Sabrina Prevost, 17, will be an working with the Union Chamber at least through the end of the school year.
“I’m honored and privileged to be a part of this internship,” said Rivers. “It’s a great opportunity to start my career and give back to the community at the same time.” Rivers said he is headed to Montclair State University in the fall.
“I’ve lived in Union all my life,” said Prevost, “ and I like to give back in any way I can. I’ll be majoring in public relations at Rowan University and this will give me some great exposure and background.”
Union Chamber of Commerce Executive Director James Masterson said, “This is a great help for the Chamber. We want to make sure this opportunity provides these students with a portfolio of experiences, exposing them to businesses in town.”
Masterson said Rivers and Prevost will get some real-world experience at the Chamber. He said they will help recruit new members to the Chamber, assist at the Chamber’s March networking event and their April gala and concentrate on the Chamber’s digital marketing and video technology. "Basically," said Masterson, "Mekhi and Sabrina will help the Chamber grow."
