UNION, NJ – A Shop Local, Eat Local event, hosted by Union’s Special Improvement District (SID), is set for Saturday, November 30, in conjunction with Small Business Saturday, a national event, created by American Express.
Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to visit local brick and mortar businesses. The Union SID’s Shop Local, Eat Local event aims to do this for the many unique and independently owned businesses in the Center.
The SID will have a Welcome Station at 970A Stuyvesant Avenue from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., giving out swag bags. There will also be several Grand Opening celebrations throughout the day.
In addition, during the month of November, there will be donation bins outside of various businesses in Union Center for patrons to drop off non-perishable food items to be donated to the Union Food Pantry. In return, they will receive a gift card which can be used at any of the participating businesses.
“Our Shop Local, Eat Local event is a chance to remind everyone that they don’t need to go online to do their holiday shopping,” said Fatimah Raymond, Director of Union Center SID. “There is nothing like going out to the Center, seeing the diverse businesses that you might not have known about before, and meeting new people from your own neighborhood.”
