UNION, NJ – Union’s Movies Under the Stars returns for its fourth year, kicking off with The Emoji Movie on June 15.
“Going to the movies is a great all-American past time,” said Mayor Suzette Cavadas. “The Township’s Movies in the Park combine everything we love about movie nights with the beautiful weather that comes with the warmer months.”
The animated comedy, The Emoji Movie, set for June 15 at 8:45 p.m. at Rabkin Park, takes place in Textopolis, a world inside a smartphone that's inhabited by various emojis. There, an emoji named Gene (voiced by T.J. Miller) is ashamed that he has multiple facial expressions while his colleagues only have one each, and he embarks on a quest to be like everyone else. James Corden, Anna Faris, Jennifer Coolidge, Patrick Stewart, and Maya Rudolph also lend their voices to this film from Sony Pictures Animation.
Movies are free and open to the public. Pre-movie entertainment begins at 7:30 p.m. Movie-goers are welcomed to bring blankets and chairs. Free popcorn will be provided and local food trucks will be present for food and refreshments.
The second movie, Disney’s Coco, will be shown during Mayor’s Weekend in September. Additional information will be forthcoming.
