UNION, NJ – Last week, township officials in Union gave away more than 6,500 face masks to residents.

On Wednesday, face masks were handed out to participants in the Union Stands United vigil in honor of George Floyd and on Thursday, they were given away to visitors at opening day of the Union Farmers Market.  Throughout the week, residents were able to drive up to a mask giveaway during the evenings to receive up to eight face masks per family.

“Residents were very appreciative of the gesture and commented that even though masks are available in store, they are expensive,” said Assistant Business Administrator Bill Reyes.  Township officials said remaining masks will be given away at every Farmers Market and township events.
