UNION, NJ - Union's confirmed coronavirus cases as of Thursday, June 18, total 1,783, with 71 deaths of township residents.

New Jersey reported another 442 positive cases in the last 24 hours said Union Mayor Michele Delisfort after her daily call with state, county and local officials.  Statewide, there are 168,107 positive COVID-19 cases reported with 12,800 deaths.  In Union County, confirmed coronavirus cases total 16,304 with 1,112 deaths.

Delisfort said currently our rate of transmission is 0.75. "This is one of the best measures for tracking Covid 19’s spread.  Today’s numbers tell us that our work to crush the curve has been working – we need to keep at it.  However, even with the significant decreases in Covid 19 data we’ve seen over the past days and weeks, we’re still one of the nation’s most impacted states."

Nationally New Jersey ranks 38th in new cases per day, fifth in patients in the hospital, and second in deaths per day, said Delisfort.
