UNION, NJ – Franklin Elementary School teachers and students received a big surprise on Wednesday morning when representatives from Burlington Stores presented a $10,000 donation.

“At Burlington, we are all about supporting our neighbors and the communities where we live and work,” Burlington District Manager Kim Marin told Franklin School’s teacher and students.  “We’re here today to celebrate your school’s teachers.”

Marin continued, “with the help of our friends at AdoptAClassroom.org, we are going to adopt ALL of your teachers today at Franklin Elementary School to give each of them money so they can purchase more school supplies for your classroom.”

“It’s so exciting to be here today, and I’m so happy Burlington choose one of our schools,” said Board of Education President Nancy Minneci.  “I know the teachers will put the money to good use.”

“I am thankful that our teachers are being recognized for their hard work and dedication to our children,” said Franklin School Principal Latee Walton-McCleod.  “Teachers spend their own money for the classrooms and it’s great that they are being given funds for things they may need.”

The new Burlington Store in Union is set to open on September 27.
