UNION, NJ – Snow, downed wires and scattered power outages have caused the cancellation of school and garbage pick-up in Union for Thursday.
Union schools will be closed on Thursday according to a message sent to township parents Wednesday evening. “Due to current road conditions in town, including downed wires and crosswalks not yet completely cleared, as well as scattered power outages, the Township of Union public schools will be closed Thursday, March 8. As always, the safety of our students and faculty remain our primary concern.”
A CodeRED message from Mayor Suzette Cavadas was also sent to residents Wednesday evening. “Due to downed wires in various parts of town and other hazardous conditions, garbage collection for tomorrow, March 8, has been suspended and will resume with regular pick up on Monday.”
The message continued, “We urge our residents to stay indoors as DPW and PSE&G work to clean up the snow, trees and hazardous live wires that have come down because of the storm. Please stay warm and safe.”
