UNION, NJ – Two returning and one new Board of Education member took the oath of office at Tuesday night’s school board reorganization meeting.  Guy Francis, who previously served on the board from 2013-2018, current Board President Nancy Minneci and current board member Mary Lynn Williams were sworn into office.

For board leadership positions, board member Linda Richardson nominated Minneci for another term as president, and Francis nominated current board Vice President Ronnie McDowell, who declined the nomination.  At roll call, Minneci won the position with five yes votes, three no votes and one abstention.

“Thank you for your support,” said Minneci.  “I look forward to chairing another year.”

For board vice president, Vito Nufrio nominated newly sworn in Williams and board member Kim Ruiz nominated McDowell.  Williams received the five votes necessary to become the board’s new vice president.
