UNION, NJ – Track and field athlete and Union High School senior Delano Gooden has committed to attending Saint Peter’s University in the fall.

“I feel great that I am on the pursuit of achieving my long childhood dream of becoming a great professional athlete one day,” said Gooden, “but I will miss Union High School.  I have so many memories there, though sentimental about that, I am glad I got this far.”

Gooden said he always aimed for Saint Peter’s University, “but, I wasn't sure at all until I had a talk with my high school coach and the coaches at SPU.  I realized this school had everything I wanted, so I decided to check it out, and with no doubt it amazed me.”

Gooden said he’s most excited about the new experiences of learning in a higher level of education setting, meeting new people, and the life of living on campus while doing sports.

“I am very excited to show SPU my raw talent in track and field, and also the challenges I have to face in track,” said Gooden.  “The training is the hardest part of track and I can't wait to see what they have in store for me in track practice. I'm always up for a challenge.”

Gooden will be studying business and finance.
