UNION, NJ - The Ultimate Pizza Tasting Contest, sponsored by the Township of Union Education Foundation, was a huge success! Friday evening, September 27, more than 175 people attended the event held at Jefferson School. Eight pizzerias from Union donated pizzas for attendees to taste and then vote on their favorites. The community pizzerias were Cioffi's, Fior D'Italia, Galloping Hill, Joe's Famous, Johnny Napkins, La Piccola, Master and Padonno's. Joe's Famous on Springfield Avenue was voted the winner.
The event would not have been so successful without the help of the members of the Union High School Key Club. The President of the club, Giselle Avetria, and the members set up the tables, served the pizzas and cleaned up. They were invaluable. As one of the attendees said, "The high school students were unbelievable. They were so polite and hard working; great to see."
