UNION, NJ – The Connecticut Farms Presbyterian Church Food Pantry welcomed a donation from Union PBA Local 69 of 32 turkeys on Saturday, just in time for the holiday season.

The Food Pantry is open once a month to Union residents in need.  This month special holiday meal items such as a turkey, pies, and stuffing, eggs, gravy, fresh potatoes, cranberry sauce and muffin mix were also available.

“Thank you for giving back to our community,” said Township Committeeman Manuel Figueiredo to PBA representatives.  “This goes above and beyond what you do for the township residents each and every day.”

Jane Reichle of the Connecticut Farms Presbyterian Church Food Pantry said a bag containing cereal, oatmeal, tuna fish, pasta and sauce, macaroni and cheese, canned fruits and vegetables, and peanut butter and jelly is available to those in need on the third Saturday of each month.  Donations of these items are always welcomed, said Reichle.  Those interested in donating can contact the church at 908-688-3164.

Additional support to the Food Pantry was provided by Boy Scout Troop 68, who donated the stuffing and fresh potatoes, and Girl Scout Troop 40024 who were on hand on Saturday to help out.  Reichle said the bread and rolls were donated by Panera Bread.
