UNION, NJ - Washington Elementary School's fourth graders came together as the Class of 2020 one final time on Wednesday.

The Washington School PTA sponsored a yearbook pick up and signing on the school's playground.  "Even with everyone in a mask, you could still see the excitement as students came face to face with classmates they have not seen in person in months," said outgoing PTA President Nicole Ahern.  Parents, teachers and Principal Thomas Matthews assisted to make the night safe and memorable.

Fourth grade teacher Ian Penny said, “as usual, it was wonderful to see Washington's learning community come together to celebrate our students. Seeing the happiness on the faces of the students made my day.”

“This fourth grade class deserved something special to remember this unique and challenging school year," said Ahern.  "The PTA was happy to be able to provide this event for them!”

One final surprise treat of Kona Ice was a parting gift to the students as they move on to Jefferson School next year.
