UNION, NJ – Maria Theresa Wadle celebrated her 100th birthday with a family celebration on Wednesday at her home in Union. Mayor Michele Delisfort stopped by to congratulate Wadle and presented her with a Testimonial Resolution.
Wadle was born in Germany on July 29, 1920, to Franz and Anna Lienhart. She immigrated to America on October 8, 1937, and arrived in New York City, where she lived with an uncle for two years. In October 1940, she met Rudolph Wadle in Elizabeth, NJ, and they married on May 18, 1941. They had two children, Walter Wadle and Lillian Wadle Detjen. Wadle moved to Union in 1951.
Wadle has four granddaughters, four grandsons, and twenty-one great grandchildren.
