UNION, NJ – Martin Karlin, 94, who served for decades in the Union Emergency Medical Service, passed away at his home in Union on Saturday.

Karlin joined the Union Volunteer Emergency Medical Service after his retirement from his Union-based wholesale food distributorship businesses and became a certified EMT.  Throughout his years of service, he raised over two million dollars for the squad.  He was the recipient of many awards and accolades in recognition of his accomplishments, including having “Marty Karlin Day” designated by the Township of Union Committee.

Karlin is survived by his daughter Jan and her husband Jeff, his son Dr. Ross and his wife Karen, and his brother-in-law Marvin.  He was predeceased by Eileen, his wife of 59 years, his son Mark and his sister Edith.
