ELIZABETH, NJ - Elizabeth Fire Dept. responded to a two-story house fire on the 200 Block of Westfield Ave. shortly after 3:15 p.m. Wednesday Afternoon.

The blaze quickly escalated to 4 alarms with smoke that could be seen for miles before it was brought under control. Companies from Rahway, Hillside, Union, Cranford, Scotch Plains, and Westfield were also on scene for mutual assistance along with Union County EMS and Trinitas Medic 41. 

According to authorities, the fire appeared to have started on the second floor and no injuries were reported. While there was a concern of the fire spreading to the adjacent homes on each side, firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the one structure.
