UNION, NJ – Four men and one woman were sworn in as Union's newest police officers at a ceremony at Town Hall on Thursday.
Joining the department are: Michael T. Plaia, Danny Mirao, Nyanate F. Senyon, Juliana C. Hudson, and Mathew F. Melody.
“It’s a tough road you have ahead of you,” said Police Director Daniel Zieser, referring to the five-months of training at the John H. Stamler Police Academy the recruits began on Friday. “Your family and friends will support you. It’s a great career you’re embarking on.”
“I want to welcome you to the Township of Union,” said Business Administrator Don Travisano. “There’s nothing more rewarding than a career dedicated toward serving the public. You never want to forget that. Congratulations, best of luck, and thank you, thank you, thank you.”
“You are joining a very elite police force, one of the best in the state” said Deputy Mayor and Police Commissioner Joseph Florio. “It’s the best because of the men and women of our police force, and you’re joining that team. “
"Congratulations today on this milestone," said State Senator Joseph Cryan. "There's a lot more milestones ahead. I wish you all well and thank you for agreeing to protect me and my family and the 58,000 residents of this community."
