UNION, NJ – The Union Fire Department has announced they will be screening all visitors and employees at all points of entry at fire department facilities to minimize exposure to COVID-19.

The screenings will check to determine those who have cold and flu-like symptoms, those who have had contact with someone with the coronavirus, and those who may have traveled internationally.  According to Union Fire Chief Mike Scanio, visitors are being restricted whenever possible and fire department business should be conducted via telephone, email or other electronic means as much as possible.

“We understand that emotions and anxiety over this health crisis are running high,” said Scanio.  “The Union Fire Department continues to take all the necessary steps to ensure the health, well-being and safety of employees, the citizens and the community we protect and serve. Take comfort in knowing that if you require our services we are prepared and ready.”

“The health and safety of our citizens, employees and communities are always our highest priority,” concluded Scanio.
