UNION, NJ - Union firefighters responded to the report of a fully engulfed house fire at about 3:00 Saturday afternoon on Tower Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire coming from the first and second floors of the house at 329 Tower Street.  According to Union Fire Chief Mike Scanio, the two-alarm fire was brought under control within 45 minutes with assistance from Irvington and Maplewood Fire Departments.  Scanio said Public Service Electric & Gas were on scene due to an electrical wire down in front of the home.  He said the home on either side of the involved house sustained minor damage.

Six people were displaced from the home, but no injuries were reported.  Scanio said the investigative team is on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
