UNION, NJ – Union firefighters responded to a fire at a large manufacturing warehouse early Tuesday morning.

A fire alarm at 3:22 a.m. alerted firefighters to the incident at 2 Milltown Court, said Union Fire Chief Mike Scanio.  Upon arrival, firefighters found fire showing from a first floor window.  He said the fire was extinguished and the building was searched, although the business was closed at the time.

Scanio said the fire involved a piece of machinery that used a 1000 gallon rinse tank for etching.  Union County Haz-Mat personnel were notified to respond due to the chemicals involved.  The area was immediately isolated, although no danger was presented outside the immediate area, Scanio said.

There were no fire department personnel injuries.  The fire is under investigation but does not seem suspicious at this time, according to Scanio.
