UNION, NJ - Union police are looking for a white or silver van they say was involved in the hit and run incident Wednesday night, causing life-threatening injuries to a young boy.
Union police officers responded to the accident scene in front of 296 Galloping Hill Road on Wednesday at just before 8:00 p.m. A white or silver van was traveling north on Galloping Hill Road when it collided with the young pedestrian. The vehicle did not stop and fled the scene, continuing north on Galloping Hill Road. Police say the victim suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
During the investigation, Galloping Hill Road was detoured for three hours while the crash scene was processed. Galloping Hill Road was closed between Salem Road and Forest Drive. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Union Police Officer Michael Salerno. Any witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Union Police Department Traffic Bureau at (908) 851-5070.
