UNION, NJ – Seven Union High School scholarship athletes signed letters of intent with colleges and universities on Thursday morning in the UHS Library.

“We are proud of all of our student athletes for achieving both their academic and athletic goals,” said UHS Athletic Director Linda Ionta.  “They are always welcomed back to their Union High School family.”

  • Soccer player Caitlin Finnerty will be attending The College of New Jersey
  • Lacey Beal will be the only female on the bowling team at William Paterson University
  • Aaron Hobbs will be attending The College of St. Elizabeth
  • Diondre McFarlane signed his letter of intent to play basketball for Utica College
  • Jabri Lateef also signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Utica College
  • Basketball player Chimidi Eboh will be attending Utica College
  • Tyrone Bowen signed his letter of intent to play basketball at Rutgers University

 “This was one of the best group of seniors I’ve had in terms of their work ethic and just being great kids,” said basketball coach Kevin Feeley.  “They are truly great people, not just great players.  As a coach, I’m just happy to see them succeed.”

“I started playing soccer as a freshman,” said Finnerty.  “It was hard work, but I’m so excited to be going to TCNJ.”

William Paterson-bound Beal said, “I’ve been bowling since I was 13.  It’s a dream of mine to bowl in college.  I’ll become the first female bowler on the team in about 20 years.  I’ll have a blast.”

“Me and my peers are going to Utica to play a sport we love,” said Lateef.  “UHS really helped me focus on basketball.  It’s a great environment.”
