UNION, NJ – Union soccer standouts Kayla Miller-People and Gabrielle “Gabby” Lamadieu have been friends since they were seven years old.
Miller-People and Lamadieu have played soccer together with the Recreation program, soccer clubs, in high school and on the state Olympic Development Program teams. They’ve always had each other’s back on the soccer field. Soon, for the first time since grade school, Miller-People and Lamadieu will be on opposite sides of the field representing their respective college soccer teams in a game on Thursday, August 29.
Lamadieu plays for the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Miller-People for LaSalle University. The game will be broadcast at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
According to her LaSalle University bio, freshman Miller-People was Voted Top Girls Soccer High School Senior by NJ.Com. She recorded 30 goals and 21 assists over her final two seasons. She was selected to the NJ All-State Second Team in 2018. Miller-People played club for NJ Elite.
Lamadieu, also a freshman, was a member of the 2018 US soccer club national champion team. According to her NJIT bio, Lamadieu is a two-time all-County Watchung Division (2018—second team; 2017—first team) and all-State (2018) honoree. The Union High School defender was selected as a 2017 All-Star Top 16 U.C.G.S.A and played for the NJ Elite Flames club team.
