UNION, NJ - Andrew Sanborn has been chosen Union High School’s November Male Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Service Professionals.
Sanborn, a sophomore, is Union football team’s starting quarterback. He recorded 2,014 yards passing, a first in Union football history.
What’s your favorite part of being a high school athlete?
My favorite part of being a high school athlete is just the experience. There is nothing like playing under those lights on Friday nights with all your friends and town cheering for you in the stands.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
My favorite athlete is Aaron Rodgers because in my opinion I play just like him so he’s kind of like a role model to me.
What are the most important attributes of being a leader?
The most important part of being a leader is not showing your emotions when things go wrong because as a leader you are supposed to give your team confidence and by doing that you need to always keep your head up so they know everything is going to be good.
What is your greatest high school accomplishment so far?
My greatest accomplishment is definitely finishing the year with 2k passing yards .
Do you play any other sports? What’s your favorite?
I play football, baseball and basketball. My favorite is definitely football
What’s your favorite subject? Why?
My favorite subject is gym because it’s the easiest for me.
If you could spend the day with anyone in the world alive or dead, who would it be?
If I could spend the day with anyone in the world it would have to be Aaron Rodgers.
What would your words of wisdom to be future UHS Athletes?
For any future UHS athletes I’d say just make sure you leave everything on the field and make sure you wear that U with pride.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I would love to be in the NFL
What was the most difficult thing for you to overcome as a student-athlete?
The hardest part is definitely staying focused with my work because there are so many distractions but I know I have to stay focused in that field to get where I want to go.

What are your plans after high school?
My plans are to hopefully go to a division 1 school for football and play at the next level and hopefully even the level after that.
