VERNON, NJ - An evaluation conducted by a local publication gave Vernon High School a grade of "B" for its academic results over a four-year period.

The Inside Jersey public high school ratings published by The Star-Ledger/NJ.com show that Vernon High is one of five public high schools out of nine in Sussex County to achieve a score of "B" or higher, based on test scores and data from the New Jersey Department of Education reporting the High School Proficency Assessment results for language arts and math tests among the general population.

Schools were graded from "A" to "D," with Standard Aptitude Test (SAT) scores also weighted in. Vernon had an average SAT of 1,490, and its 2012 evaluation score of 328.4 in the study was up 9.4 percent--the largest increase in Sussex County--compared to its score in the 2008 study.
