CEDAR GROVE, NJ - On Saturday, a skimming device and camera were discovered attached to the outdoor ATM machine at the Columbia Bank on Pompton Avenue.
Investigation revealed the suspect responsible for installing the devices arrived at the bank at 3:52 p.m. and first installed a wireless camera to the top of the ATM and then installed a skimming device over the traditional debit card input port. It was originally reported by the police that the suspect arrived via bicycle, but further review of the video surveillance by bank security has proven that false. There is no vehicle description at this time.
The suspect’s actions apparently triggered the ATM’s internal alarm, resulting in the bank manager’s response and discovery of the devices. At this time it does not appear the suspect obtained any customer information. Police are seeking to identity the pictured suspect and ask anyone with information to contact detectives at 973-239-4100.
