CEDAR GROVE, NJ - Cedar Grove opened its new baseball field with a bang, defeating Caldwell 7-5 in Cedar Grove on Friday.  

Cedar Grove battled consistently scoring runs in the first, second and third inning and tacking on three in the fifth.  Caldwell has a lone run in the first inning, rallied with four runs in the sixth but it was too late to catch the Panthers.  

Ray Willams went 2-for-3 with a homerun and three RBI for Cedar Grove.  Ryan Turi went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.  Joe Rufo and Bill Capasso both drove in runs for the Panthers.

Nick Picinich threw for more than five innings, striking out nine and walking six.  

The win improves the Panthers to 8-5.  They travel to Montclair Kimberly on Monday at 4 p.m.
