NEWARK, NJ - The Cedar Grove Panthers lost a tough one to undefeated North Star Academy, falling 50-48 on Saturday in Newark.

The Panthers kept pace with North Star in the first quarter, trailing by just two points, but a 20-8 scoring run by North Star in the second quarter increased their lead.  Cedar Grove came out strong in the second half, outscoring North Star 27-25, but it was not enough to close the gap.

Sammy Ventola led for the Panthers with 16 points, while Mike Pronesti added 15 and Dennis Mitola had 10 points.  Hakeem Wilson led for North Star with 20 points.
