NEWARK, NJ - Joey Zecchino delivered 27 points for the Verona Hillbillies, but it wasn't enough to top Christ the King who won 63-49 in Newark on Thursday.
Verona outscored Christ the King 17-10 in a strong first quarter, but Christ the King answered in the second quarter ending the half with a two point lead. A pivotal third quarter where Christ the King scored 23 points to Verona's 10 proved to be the deciding factor in the game. Though Verona outscored Christ the King in the fourth quarter, there was not enough time for them to overtake them for the win.
Jeremy Boub had eight points for Verona and Andrew Siegelin had six.
Verona is now 1-2 for the season. They take on Caldwell Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Holiday Classic at Caldwell University.
