I am running for Cedar Grove Township Council due to my concerns for the future of the Township. I would like to continue the Cedar Grove tradition of strong leadership as a long-time town resident. We collectively, as a council need to take an in depth look at the future development in the township and that is why I am proposing a moratorium on all building in town until the Planning Board and Township Council have had a chance to re-write the township master plan. A lot has changed in ten years since the last revision to the plan and some of the existing master plan elements may no longer apply to today’s Cedar Grove.
The township also needs to take a serious look at maintaining the natural features of our community, i.e. our steep slope areas, tree inventory and wildlife. We need to maintain the blend of natural features, which make Cedar Grove desirable, while providing quality of life for our residents. I would like to maintain the character of Cedar Grove for my children, grandchildren and the families of all Cedar Grove residents.
Also, as a health care professional I believe we need to bring awareness to the many health care issues that affect all of our residents in some fashion. Whether it be breast cancer awareness or blood pressure screening or distribution of flu shots, we need to do a better job of getting the message out.
As your councilman, I hope to continue to work with my fellow council members to make some of my ideas become a reality for the betterment of all Cedar Grove residents.
