Residents deserve at a minimum, local government that provides the services they need and deserve as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. Residents also deserve local government that is open and transparent about the way it spends taxpayer dollars. Unfortunately, our current administration has not lived up to these basic standards.

I ran for council four years ago because I wanted to help build a stronger Verona for future generations. I promised to cut wasteful spending and increase accountability. In my time on council, I've done my best to be the voice of Verona taxpayers. I stood up to budget increases and demanded real accountability. I took a stand against skyrocketing property taxes and voted against raising rates on Verona homeowner's 3 years in a row.

I can't do it alone. All too often I have been in the minority - voting against higher taxes - with only councilman Kevin Ryan standing by my side.

Wasteful spending, no-bid contracts and the status quo-culture of mismanagement have saddled Verona homeowners with unsustainable property tax bills.

With a new majority, myself, councilman Ryan and council candidate Alex Roman we can finally put an end to runaway spending.

All candidates have an open invitation to submit statements for publication.
