CEDAR GROVE, NJ - Cedar Grove Police said the township is assessing the damage sustained during flash flooding which occurred Saturday afternoon.
Heavy rain fell causing severe flooding and making many roads impassable. While the roads have now reopened, police said Department of Public Works employees are working to clear storm drains and remove debris from roadways.
Police said there were no deaths or injuries associated with the flooding, but police and fire department personnel did rescue numerous people trapped in vehicles on flooded roads. In addition, they have responded to many calls for assistance from residents with flooded basements to turn off the gas and electricity service.
While the town works to restore things back to normal, residents are asked to only contact the police department for emergencies. All property damage incidents will be addressed after all emergency operations are completed.
