Cedar Grove Girl Scouts Are Collecting Donations for Mary's Place By the Sea

CEDAR GROVE, NJ - Girl Scout troop #20510 of Cedar Grove is collecting donations for Mary’s Place By the Sea, a facility that supports women with cancer, from March 13 to April 7.

Mary’s Place isupports women with cancer through integrative services which complement their medical treatment and support their healing: mind, body and soul. Their custom, 10-bedroom home is located just two blocks from the ocean in Ocean Grove, NJ.

Guests are invited to stay up to three days before, during and after treatment at no cost to them. The Girl Scouts chose Mary’s Place because several Cedar Grove residents have spent time there including one special parent at Memorial Middle School, Dawn Nesto.

The troop met with Nesto and she explained how beneficial the services at Mary’s Place were to her. Mary’s Place is run solely on donations and the generous help of volunteers.

Tall Kitchen garbage bags

Laundry Detergent fragrance & dye free

White face clothes

Dish soap (liquid and dishwasher pods)

Shop Rite gift cards

Whole Foods gift card

Costco gift card

Trader Joe’s gift card

Visa gift cards

Bed Bath and Beyond gift cards

There will be a collection box located in the office of MMS so students can drop off their donation beginning Monday, March 13. Donations can also be dropped off at 45 The Glen, Cedar Grove.

LEGO Drive Benefiting Kids with Cancer

A good friend of mine lost his son to cancer at age 10 a few years back. His name was Paul Jimenez aka "Paulie". Since his loss, the family has started a foundation called "Paulie Strong" to help raise awareness and donations for those in need. This March, they are holding a LEGO drive for children with cancer.
