CEDAR GROVE, NJ – Cedar Grove police arrested three Newark men on Monday for burglary and theft from several cars, and possession of a stolen car.
The arrest followed a 10:51 p.m. report of a suspicious vehicle on Haller Drive. The caller reported that three people exited the car and walked down Haller toward Sherman Avenue. Responding officers located the three men and also noticed interior lights on in parked vehicles in the immediate area.
Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old Danny Gonzalez, 19-year-old Antonio L. Torres and 18-year-old Isaiah D. Pettus after it was determined they had entered at least three parked cars and had stolen numerous items including a mobile GPS device, a debit card, an umbrella and loose change.
Investigation also revealed the vehicle they arrived in, a 2005 Chrysler, had been stolen, but not yet discovered as missing by its owner. All three defendants were processed at police headquarters and released pending Superior Court Arraignment in Newark on Sept. 15. Patrolmen Dominick Buscio, Michael Passafiume, Joseph Johnson and Jose Rodriguez were the investigating officers.
