On April 3, 2017 at 8:38 a.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck stopped a vehicle for an observed moving violation. The vehicle operator, a 53 year old male out of Bronx, NY, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On April 4, 2017 at 1:34 p.m., Ptl. Kyle Vergano stopped a vehicle for an observed moving violation. The vehicle operator, a 29 year old male out of Clifton, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On April 4, 2017 at 7:21 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle after a random check on his mobile data terminal revealed that the registration was expired. The vehicle operator, a 50 year old male out of Caldwell, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On April 4, 2017 at 7:35 a.m., Ptl. John Smigelsky stopped a vehicle after a random check on his mobile data terminal revealed that the registration was suspended. The vehicle operator, a 31 year old female out of Elmwood Park, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that her driving privileges were suspended. She was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On April 5, 2017 at 10:47 a.m., Ptl. John Smigelsky investigated a two car motor vehicle crash with injuries in the area of 1190 Pompton Avenue. His investigation revealed that one of the vehicle operators, a 70 year female out of West Orange, was operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs. She was arrested, processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On April 5, 2017 at 10:22 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The vehicle operator, a 19 year old male out of Verona, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On April 7, 2017 at 8:20 a.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle for a moving violation.  The vehicle operator, a 49 year old male out of Bloomfield, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On April 8, 2017 at 2:38 a.m., Police responded to The Grasshopper Bar and Restaurant for a large fight. Several of the involved parties had left the scene prior to police arrival. Two individuals with minor injuries were located standing outside the business. They were evaluated by the Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad and declined further medical treatment. None of the involved parties wished to pursue criminal charges.

On April 8, 2017 at 12:05 p.m., Sgt. Jason Wolfstirn stopped a vehicle for an expired inspection decal. The vehicle operator, a 38 year old male out of Carteret, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On April 8, 2017 at 4:50 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The vehicle operator, a 23 year old male out of Newark, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On April 9, 2017 at 8:35 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The vehicle operator, a 44 year old female out of Montclair, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that her driving privileges were suspended. She was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On June 14, 2018 at 12:13 a.m., Ptl. Nicole Witel stopped a vehicle after a random license plate check revealed that the registration was suspended. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a 23 year old male driver from Montclair for driving while suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

Male Body Found Saturday Morning Under Belmar Boardwalk

BELMAR, NJ — A male body was found this morning under the Belmar boardwalk at Ninth Avenue, according to reports.

While the Monmouth County Medical Examiner's Office was at the scene on Ocean Avenue at about 8:15 a.m. on June 16, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office referred all questions to the Belmar Police Department.
