On April 10, 2017 at 1:41 a.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The vehicle operator, a 21 year old male out of Newark, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On April 13, 2017 at 12:31 a.m., police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at Lombardi’s Bar and Restaurant located at 599 Pompton Avenue. The owner had received an alert on his phone from a recently installed security system. Through his cell phone, the owner observed an unknown actor in his business opening a cash register behind the bar. The actor had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Upon viewing the surveillance video officers were able to identify the actor as 26 year old Steven O’Connor of Cedar Grove. He was charged with burglary, theft and possession of burglary tools. He was processed and taken to the Essex County Jail. 

On April 14, 2017 at 6:57 p.m., Ptl. Justin Westra stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The vehicle operator, a 32 year old male out of Newark, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

All persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
