On June 26, 2018 at 3:13 a.m., Ptl. Christopher Lynch observed a vehicle with an inoperable break lamp being operated on Fox Road. As he turned around the operator turned off all his lights in an attempt to avoid detection. The vehicle was located and stopped on Essex Road. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 19 year old male driver and 18 year old male passenger, both from East Orange, for possession of marijuana. They were processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On June 26, 2018 at 9:56 a.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle after observing an object hanging from the rear view mirror that obstructed the driver’s view of the road. It was determined that the 20 year old female driver from Bloomfield was operating a vehicle with a suspended license. She was also found to have outstanding warrants. She was arrested processed and released after posting the required bail.

On June 30, 2018 at 9:19 p.m., police and fire personnel responded to a Rugby Road address for a heavy smoke condition in the home. The source of the smoke was determined to be a small fire inside the garage. The fire was extinguished by the homeowner with a garden hose. Detectives investigated the fire. It was determined that discarded pieces of used fireworks had been placed in a box in the garage. Those pieces reignited causing the fire.
