October 17 - 23, 2016

On Monday, October 17 at 12:58 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck initiated a motor vehicle stop for observed violations.  A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the 26 year-old operator, Luis A. Melendez of Bloomfield, after it was determined he was wanted on an outstanding criminal warrant issued by the Newark Court.  Melendez was processed at police headquarters and turned over to the Newark Police Department on their warrant.

On Monday, October 17 at 5:43 p.m., police arrested a West Milford man on a charge he was operating a motor vehicle while his NJ driving privileges were under suspension.  The 22 year-old defendant, Edwin J. Lara, was processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.  Ptl. Dominick Buscio was the arresting officer.

On Wednesday, October 19 at 4:26 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation.  A subsequent check of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) computer revealed the operator’s NJ driving privileges were under suspension.  The 21 year-old operator, Ifeanyichukwu V. Okeke of West Orange, was arrested on the charge, processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

On Wednesday, October 19 at 4:57 p.m., Ptl. Anthony Cardona initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation.  A subsequent check of the NJMVC computer revealed the operator’s NJ driving privileges were under suspension.  The 26 year-old operator, Bedins Victor of Orange, was arrested on the charge, processed at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.

On Friday, October 21 at 1:13 p.m., police arrested 41 year-old Francis J. Kovats of Cedar Grove on outstanding traffic warrants issue by the Cedar Grove and Ridgewood Courts.  Kovats was processed and turned over to the Ridgewood Police Department on their warrant.  Ptl. Christopher Heck was the arresting officer. 

On Friday, October 21 at 4:20 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation.  A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the 34 year-old operator, Yusef A. Archer of Newark, on charges he was operating the vehicle while his NJ driving privileges were under suspension, in addition to being in possession of CDS marijuana (under 50g) and drug paraphernalia.  Archer was processed on all charges at police headquarters and released pending a Municipal Court appearance.     

On Sunday, October 23 at 2:58 p.m., Ptl. Robert McDermott initiated a motor vehicle stop for an observed violation.  A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the 30 year-old operator, Nicholas J. McGuiness of Nutley, on a charge he was operating the vehicle while his NJ driving privileges were under suspension.  McGuiness was also found to be wanted on an outstanding traffic warrant issued by the Totowa Court.  The defendant was processed at police headquarters and released pending court appearances in Cedar Grove and Totowa Courts.  

The Cedar Grove Police Department requests that the public report all suspicious activity observed, as it occurs.  The police department telephone number is 973-239-4100 and in case of emergency 9-1-1.  All reports are investigated and all assistance is appreciated.

BAYONNE, NJ – The case of a near lifetime supply of toothpaste that was taken from a Bayonne pharmacy has been solved.
