On January 8, 2017 at 10:00 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Ligas responded to a Little Falls Road address on a report of a suspicious person. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Joseph Vaughan of New Brunswick. Vaughan was determined to be wanted by the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office for failing to appear in court on an outstanding drug charge. He was arrested, processed and transported to the Middlesex County Jail.

On January 10, 2017 at 2:00 a.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a vehicle for an observed moving violation. The 22 year old operator, Louis Mancini of Verona, was subsequently arrested after an investigation revealed that he was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Mancini was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On January 11, 2017 at 12:05 a.m., Officers responded to the CVS at 387 Pompton Avenue on a report of a shoplifting. The actors had fled prior to police arrival. Surveillance video was obtained and the matter is under investigation by the detective bureau.

On January 12, 2017 at 12:45 p.m., Ptl. Anthony Cardona stopped a motor vehicle for an observed equipment violation. The 46 year old operator, Sharez Simmons of East Orange, was arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On January 14, 2017 at 7:42 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a vehicle for an observed equipment violation. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 21 year old operator, Najai Gordon of East Orange, for possession of CDS (marijuana). He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

The Cedar Grove Police Department requests that the public report all suspicious activity observed, as it occurs.  The police department telephone number is 973-239-4100 and in case of emergency 9-1-1.  All reports are investigated and all assistance is appreciated.

All persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On May 14, 2018 at 5:57 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle without a front license plate and tinted windows. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 36 year old male driver from Paterson for driving with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
