On January 24, 2017 at 11:28 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Lynch stopped a motor vehicle after a random vehicle registration check on his mobile data terminal indicated that the operator had a suspended driver’s license. The 24-year old operator, Linda Drejaj of Garfield, was arrested for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Drejaj was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On January 28, 2017 at 5:48 a.m., Sgt. Jose Rodriguez conducted a random vehicle registration check on his mobile data terminal on a vehicle stopped at traffic signal. The check revealed that the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license. Sgt. Rodriguez confirmed that the owner was the person operating the vehicle. He stopped the vehicle and arrested the 44-year old operator, Tae Kim of Palisades Park. Kim was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.    

On January 29, 2017 a landscape business owner reported a burglary to his equipment trailers which were parked on the property of a Pompton Avenue business. The actor or actors used bolt cutters to remove the lock on the trailer and then take numerous pieces of landscaping equipment and power tools. The incident is under investigation by the detective bureau.

On January 29, 2017 at 7:52 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a motor vehicle for an observed moving violation. The 24-year old operator, Marque Simmons of Vauxhall, was arrested after it was determined that his driver’s license was suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On January 29, 2017, at 11:09 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Johnson stopped a motor vehicle for an observed equipment violation. The 28-year old operator, Gary Rushing of Wayne, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. Rushing was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

The Cedar Grove Police Department requests that the public report all suspicious activity observed, as it occurs.  The police department telephone number is 973-239-4100 and in case of emergency 9-1-1.  All reports are investigated and all assistance is appreciated.  All persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On June 14, 2018 at 12:13 a.m., Ptl. Nicole Witel stopped a vehicle after a random license plate check revealed that the registration was suspended.
