January 30 th – Feb 5 th 2017

On January 31, 2017 at 9:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to a report of an attempted burglary to a Pompton Avenue business. The owner arrived to open the store and discovered that someone had attempted to pry open both doors to the business. The detective bureau is investigating the incident.

On January 31, 2017 at 7:34 p.m., Ptl. Nicole O’Halloran stopped a motor vehicle for an observed equipment violation. It was subsequently determined that the operator had a suspended driver’s license. The 27 year old operator, Jordans Williams of Hillside, was arrested and processed at police headquarters. Williams was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On February 1, 2017 at 2:10 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Heck stopped a motor vehicle for an observed equipment violation. Further investigation revealed that the 29 year old operator, Dantes Dejean of Orange, was wanted on an outstanding traffic warrant. Dejean was placed under arrested and transported to police headquarters. Dejean was able to post the required bail and was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On February 1, 2017 at 11:32 p.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume stopped a vehicle thatwas traveling at an excessive speed on Pompton Avenue. The 20 year old operator, Jante Evans of Maplewood, was found to have an outstanding traffic warrant from Irvington Municipal Court. Evans was arrested and processed at police headquarters. She posted the required bail and was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On February 3, 2017 at 8:01 a.m., Ptl. Anthony Cardona stopped a motor vehicle for an equipment violation. The 31 year old operator, Asia Starling of Linden, was subsequently placed under arrest for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Starling was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On February 3, 2017 at 12:44 p.m., Ptl Jason Rivers stopped a motor vehicle after observing the operator using a cell phone while driving. The 49 year old operator, Elizabeth Davis of Andes, NY, was subsequently arrested after it was determined that her driver’s license was suspended. Davis was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On February 4, 2017 at 1:22 a.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle for traveling at an excessive speed on Ridge Road. The 21 year old operator, Brandi Alfaro of West Orange, was subsequently placed under arrested after it was determined that she was operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating liquor or drugs. At the time of her arrest, a small quantity of CDS (marijuana) was found on her person. Alfaro was process at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On February 4, 2017 at 10:00 p.m., Ptl Raymond Cassella stopped a motor vehicle for an equipment violation. The 21 year old operator, Blake Mainardi of Little Falls, was subsequently arrested for driving a vehicle with a suspended license. Mainardi was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

Got Mint? Bayonne Police Charge Man with Stealing $1,000 in Toothpaste

BAYONNE, NJ – The case of a near lifetime supply of toothpaste that was taken from a Bayonne pharmacy has been solved.

Marcos Baez, 40, of Isabella Avenue, was charged with four counts of shoplifting after police identified him as the person responsible for stealing more than $1,000 worth of toothpaste, according to a police release.
