On February 5 at 4:47 p.m., Ptl. Jason Rivers stopped a motor vehicle for improper passing. The 32-year=-ld operator, Brandon Black of Parsippany, was subsequently placed under arrest after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
On February 7 at 3:48 a.m., Ptl. Michael Passafiume found an unoccupied vehicle parked in Mills Reservation. Upon further investigation he observed empty brass bullet casings on the rear passenger floor. A short time later two individuals returned to the vehicle. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 24-year-old operator, Paul Ulrich of Lyndhurst. Ulrich was found to be in possession of CDS (marijuana). He was processed at police headquarters and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
On February 7, 2017 Patrol officers and detectives responded to a Little Falls Road business on a report of a theft of a box truck. A 2008 Freightliner Box Truck was stolen from the business at 11:39 p.m. The theft was captured on surveillance video. Two actors could be seen entering the truck and driving it away. The detective bureau is investigating.
On February 7, 2017 at 9:38 p.m., Ptl. Dominic Buscio stopped a vehicle being operated without headlamps. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two of the four occupants. The 20-year-old operator, Cherish Barnhart and 20-year old passenger, Willie Thomas, both of Belleville, were arrested and processed at police headquarters. Barnhart was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon (knife). Thomas was charged with possession of CDS (marijuana). Thomas was released with a summons to appear in municipal court. Barnhart was transported to the Essex County Jail.
On February 8 at 11:18 a.m., Sergeant Wolfstirn observed a vehicle traveling south on Pompton Avenue that was wanted for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash in Wayne. The vehicle was being operated in an erratic manner and he stopped it as it entered the Nicholas Markets Foodtown parking lot. The 29-year-old operator, Brandon Leath of Edison, was placed under arrest after it was determined that his driving privileges were suspended. It was also determined that his vehicle, a 2004 GMC Yukon, was uninsured. The vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene. It was also determined that Leath had a warrant out of Jersey City court. He posted the required bail and was issued numerous traffic summonses. He is scheduled to appear in municipal court.
On February 8 at 3:19 p.m., North Caldwell Police arrested 18-year-old Darian Veliu of Fairfield on an outstanding traffic warrant from Cedar Grove Municipal Court. Veliu was transported to this agency and taken into custody. He was brought to the court where he posted the required bail. He was released with a new date to appear in municipal court.
On February 9, 2017 at 11:51 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a motor vehicle after he detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from the passenger compartment as it traveled in front of him. He stopped the vehicle and conducted an investigation. A 34-year-old passenger, Paul Hanlon of Keansburg, was arrested after it was determined that he was in possession of marijuana. A second passenger, 24-year-old Brendan Frank of Hazlet, was arrested after it was determined that he had provided a false name to avoid his arrest for numerous outstanding criminal and traffic warrants. Hanlon was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court. Frank was changed with hindering his apprehension and turned over to Raritan Township Police for an outstanding warrant.
On February 10 at 7:18 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Lynch stopped a motor vehicle after observing that one of the occupants was not wearing a seatbelt. The 23-year-old operator, Brian Delrosario of Parsippany, was subsequently placed under arrest for operating a vehicle without a license. Delrosario was not in possession of license at the time he was stopped. He provided a false name in an effort to hinder his apprehension for numerous outstanding warrants. It was also determined that his driving privileges were suspended. He was charged with hindering his apprehension and driving while suspended. Delrosario was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
On February 11, 2017 at 3:20 p.m., Ptl. Dominic Buscio stopped a vehicle for an observed equipment violation. Ptl. Buscio detected the strong odor marijuana coming from the vehicle while speaking with the operator. A search of the vehicle for the source of the odor revealed four small plastic baggies containing marijuana in the trunk. The 25-year-old operator, Shaun Hudson of Brooklyn, NY, was placed under arrest and processed at police headquarters. He was charged with possession of CDS (marijuana) and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
On February 11 at 6:59 p.m. Patrol officers and detectives responded to an Eileen Drive residence to investigate a burglary. The resident returned home from work to discover that the front door had been forced open and the master bedroom was ransacked. While canvassing the area, police discovered that a second residence was burglarized. Surveillance video was obtained showing three actors walking the perimeter of one of the homes prior to the burglary. The detective bureau is investigating both burglaries.

All persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
