CEDAR GROVE, NJ — The Cedar Grove Police Department reported the following incidents in the townshp over the last two weeks:
On July 30, Ptl. Dominick Buscio observed a subject in the area 479 Pompton Avenue that he knew was wanted by the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department on drug-related charges. The 37-year-old male from Cedar Grove was arrested and transported to the Passaic County Jail.
Officers continue to respond to Community Park for violations of the township ordinance. Large groups have been gathering along the Peckman River in an area known locally as Devil’s Hole. These groups frequently picnic and swim in the water in violation of the ordinance. To date numerous summonses have been issued.
On Aug. 9, at 7:02 p.m. Ptl. Justin Westra responded to the area of Pompton Avenue and Grove Avenue on a report of an erratic driver. While responding he observed the vehicle traveling South in the northbound lanes. He was able to stop the vehicle in the area of 398 Pompton Ave. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 52-year-old female driver from Cedar Grove for driving while intoxicated. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
