Cedar Grove Waves 9/11 Memorial Seeks Funds for Third Installation

CEDAR GROVE, NJ – As the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approaches, Cedar Grove resident and Board of Education member David Schoner is once again planning the Cedar Grove Waves art installation for  the front lawn of Cedar Grove High School.

The Cedar Grove Waves project features a flag representing the home country of each 9/11 victim, with a total of 2,977 flags waving on the front lawn of the high school. 

For the third year, Schoner has some new things planned.

"The additions we are adding this year is formal ceremony on September 11th with a bagpiper opening the ceremony playing "Amazing Grace" and two trumpet players playing "Taps" to close it," Schoner said on the GoFundMe page.  "We are creating age appropriate displays in our two elementary  schools and middle school.  Of course we need to restock flags that are no longer usable for the event."

Cedar Grove Waves will be installed from Sept. 5 to Sept. 10 and remain on the lawn from Sept. 11 until Sept. 23.
