The Cedar Grove Historical Society is happy to announce that Nick Marzullo of Cedar Grove’s Boy Scout Troop 65 has completed his Eagle Scout project, renovation of the Society’s apiary.  Over the past two months Nick and members of his troop built and installed six ten-foot platforms as well as painting and refurbishing our bee boxes. These improvements will help the Society expand the number of active hives on the farm from nine to eleven and will provide them with adequate space for future hive expansion.

Additionally, to support and encourage pollination, the scouts built a Pollination Garden adjacent to the hives.  The garden contains plants such as butterfly bushes, milkweed and other plants.  The Society is grateful for the scouts’ time, research and dedication which has helped us to ensure that our local honeybees will continue to have a happy, healthy environment to live and pollinate.
