VERONA, NJ - On October 2, the Church of the Holy Spirit in Verona is hosting a Celebration of Pets in the Verona Civic Center from 1 to 3pm. We have always marked the first Sunday in October with a blessing of the animals, in honor of St. Francis, their patron. This year, we are planning something much different and of broader appeal: an afternoon in the outdoor Verona Civic Center that will allow everyone to honor all their four-footed, winged, and finned friends by recognizing their importance in our lives and the joy they bring us each day.

We are inviting a wide variety of pet-oriented services and businesses, such as animal shelters and fostering groups looking for homes for pets, as well as local doggie day care providers and pet-sitters and groomers, and artists and crafts-persons who create things for and about our pets. We hope you can join us for a Celebration of Pets this October 2, and every first Sunday in October in the future as we celebrate all of God’s creatures.
