NEWARK, NJ – Khalil Wheeler-Weaver, 20, of Orange, is set to appear in court on Tuesday, December 13 on charges that he allegedly killed New Jersey City University Sophmore Sarah Butler, 20, of Montclair.
Wheeler-Weaver will appear before the Hon. Ronald Wigler, PJ Cr. at the Essex County Superior Court, officials announced.
Butler was reported missing by her family shortly before Thanksgiving. Her lifeless body was found under a pile of leaves on December 1 at Eagle Rock Reservation, according to law enforcement officers.
According to the Montclair Police Department, Butler was last seen in Orange on Nov. 22 in a dark blue Dodge Caravan wearing green sweatpants. First-responders located her vehicle in Orange on Thursday.
Wheeler-Weaver was arrested on Tuesday, December 6, prosecutors announced during a press conference and charged with one count murder and one count disturbing human remains. His bail was set for $1,000,000.
