The three murder victims were found dead on Sunday, Jan. 29, when the Maplewood Fire Department responded to an apartment on Van Ness Court in Maplewood to check on the well-being of a resident, after receiving a call from someone who had been unable to reach the occupants of the apartment.

Upon entry, firefighters found three unresponsive adults, two men and a woman. The individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a release from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

The victims of the triple homicide were identified as Michael Davis, age 45, of Maplewood, Lance Fraser, age 44, of Newark, and Roshana Kelson, age 30, of Paterson, on Jan. 30.

The Essex County Prosecutor's office also stated that "these are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law or enter a guilty plea."
