First Presbyterian Church Announces Advent Events

VERONA, NJ - With Christmas drawing near the following events will be hosted by the First Presbyterian Church of Verona located at 10 Fairview Avenue.

  • Thursday, December 14:  Blue Christmas Service hosted in conjunction with the Church of the Holy Spirit.  This year the service will be held in the Episcopalian church, located at 36 Gould Street.  Starting at 7:30 PM there will be music, prayers and the lighting of candles to help those who are having a difficult time during the holiday season.  This service will emphasize the peace and healing that comes from experience “God with us.”
  • Friday, December 15 at 6:00 PM:  Hanging of the Greens.  A light supper followed by decorating the church for Christmas and carol singing.  Reservations are requested.  Please call the church office at 973-239-3561.
  • Sunday, December 17 at 10:15 AM:  The Intergeneration and Chancel Choirs will be singing “Peace, Peace” accompanied by guest harpist, Robbin Gordon-Cartier.  Robbin will also be performing harp solos prior to the service as well as giving the postlude.

The church thrift shop will be open Tuesdays from 10-1 and Saturdays from 10-2.

Update 12 p.m. - In a letter addressed to Bayonne High School parents and guardians, Interim Superintendent Dr. Michael Wanko said the school received a threat through social media at approximately 8:24 a.m.
