GLEN RIDGE, NJ - Quarterback Mike Lever connected with John Guaimano three times to help the Cedar Grove Panthers football team defeat the Glen Ridge Ridgers, 33-0, on the road on Saturday.
Cedar Grove opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 10-yard Lever to Guaimano touchdown pass, followed shortly after by a 28-yard TD pass to George Slattery to put the Panthers up 12-0. Lever found Guaimano again before the first quarter ended and a successful kick by Gavin O'Connor gave Cedar Grove a 19-0 advantage.
The Panthers did not let up in the second quarter when Lever threw 31 yards to Guaimano for the touchdown, which was quickly followed by a 15 yard rush from Peter Johnson -- a successful kick and 2-point conversion from O'Connor put Cedar Grove up 33-0, the ultimate final score.
The Panthers move to 3-0 for the season. They host Hoboken on Friday at 7 p.m.
